On today’s episode of a Drink With “The Hurricane” I have enlisted the help of our very own Marketing Manager, Nick Bonitatibus, to discuss Social Media Marketing and how it can build relationships to better your business with one click of a button.

If you aren’t tapping into social media, you are missing out on a huge opportunity to grow your business. We all know that word of mouth is one of the best ways to get referrals. Social media brings word of mouth to a whole new level! People buy from those who they know, like and trust. By using social media, we offer the public a chance to get to know us and to learn about the mission of our business.

Utilizing social media can accomplish several goals, and it can all be done from the comfort of your office or home! Let’s discuss a few ways that social media can help grow our business.

When we use social media, we have a much greater reach than when we are marketing in person. We can reach hundreds, if not thousands of potential customers who are online. Stay current with your friends on social media. Wish them happy birthday or ask them how their vacation was after seeing their pictures. Take advantage of all of the features social media offers us. People will feel appreciated when you acknowledge them and their families. You may not be “friends” with them outside of social media, and that’s OK! As long as you are authentic in your interactions, people will appreciate your attention.

Here’s an example of a past attendee using this tip.

“I followed Nick’s advice and befriended a few social workers that I knew on Facebook. Well, I stopped in the other day and instead of wondering what to talk about, she immediately brought up that my daughter was on spring break. I now have a personal connection that my competition doesn’t have. Boot camp success story.”

It is very common for friends to introduce us to their friends online today. If you are sharing something on Facebook about your business, why not ask your friends to share the information with their friends? Not only are you reaching a larger audience, but you are being endorsed, and that creates trust. LinkedIn offers a great way for professionals to network and to connect with friends of friends. When you use social media platforms, you can grow your network exponentially, and create a further reach than you could ever manage in person.

We already know that people buy from those whom they know, like and trust. If you have a genuine interest in getting to know someone, they will feel that interest. When you interact with someone online through social media, be sure to spend some time getting to know them and telling them about yourself and your business. You may be surprised to learn about some things you have in common. When you share a common interest, it is so much easier to connect on a personal level. After a personal connection is developed, you can transition into sharing your mission for your business, and ask for their support.

When you direct message someone, you are forming a relationship beyond social media. This gives you the opportunity to show you are genuine and you care about creating an authentic connection. Ask them about their business and how you can help them. This will show them that you are looking to develop a mutual relationship where you can help them too. Sometimes we need to help someone first in order for them to be willing to help us. By showing someone that you are willing to share a post about their business, they may be willing to do the same for you.

Here’s an example of a past attendee using this tip.

Nick Bonitatibus is right!!! I friended the DON at a SNF on Facebook. She just Facebook messaged me because she was at home and didn’t have our info in front of her. But needed us for a big case. Social Media is a must!!!”

Direct Messaging is completely changing the dynamic of business relationships by taking it one step further. Actually getting to know the individual instead to just asking for business. This simple tool will help you grow your business for the better.
