Home Care Marketing

YES, absolutely. As a business owner, I get probably 50-100 emails DAILY, and at least 25% of those are various e-newsletters that I have signed up for at one time or another. I skim through these, looking for tips and ideas I can implement to help my business and my clients’ businesses. These are helpful to me…but at the same time, they can be overwhelming. Additionally, as a business owner, my company sends out its own e-newsletter to subscribers on a weekly basis. I sometimes can’t help but wonder if my newsletter gets lost in the shuffle,. Nowadays, much like having a website, if you own a business, you MUST put out an e-newsletter to keep up with the times, even though you may feel email could be too “spammy.” For today’s episode of A Drink with “The Hurricane,” we hear from one of my Power Partners to give us some insight on this important business topic.

Valerie VanBooven, of LTC Expert Publications, is an Internet Lead Generation mastermind for the Home Care industry. As you have seen the past few weeks, she is a true student of the industry. She stays current on what works and what doesn’t, and she has some GREAT advice about that e-newsletter you send out every week or month to your subscribers. First off, you must remember that you are not your client and you are not your prospect! In most situations, the people who receive your newsletter are not as web savvy as you are. They typically don’t receive thousands of emails a week, and your newsletter is NOT simply “spam” that they delete without reading. Your newsletter can be seen as a valuable resource to people who are dealing with the difficult situation of an aging loved one. So, take your own views and thought out of the equation, and put yourself in their shoes.

Think about it like a car ad. When you are in the market for a new car, you are paying attention to car ads, whether they be in the paper, magazines, on TV or online. You are looking for information about cars, so they all catch your attention. But if you are not in the market for a car, the ads seem to just blend into all the other advertising that we are used to seeing on a daily basis. Nothing jumps out at you. I’m sure you don’t think to yourself…”Man, I wish Toyota would stop advertising so much!” It’s just an irrelevant thing. Same thing with eldercare. People don’t typically make an active decision to start looking into home care. Usually, there is a situation that comes up, whether an illness, injury, or declining mental status, that makes a person aware quite suddenly, WE NEED HELP. At that moment, your newsletter can be the saving grace this person didn’t even know they were looking for. Now they are paying attention.

Sending a newsletter to the people in your community is very important…and nowadays…it’s so simple to do. It all goes back to the content we discussed a few weeks ago. We can teach you how to set up the newsletter so it goes out automatically, and people can sign up right through your website. Technology has come a long way, and with this free and easy to use resource right at your fingertips, you don’t want to miss out on potential clients just because you don’t know where to begin. We are here to help you!

Valerie will be hosting a webinar on June 18th, for the Home Care Revenue Builders members, discussing tips for e-newsletters and more to grow your business and ultimately “Blow Away the Competition!”
